TSCRA Special Ranger John Cummings, Dist. 5 in northeast Oklahoma, reports a bull and 2 cows missing since July 5 from a pasture near Afton in Ottowa County. Missing are a 6-year-old black bull weighing approximately 1600 pounds with a bar over X brand on the right hip; and two 8-year-old black cows weighing around 1200 pounds, each, with a W bar brand on their right hips and a backward 7 notch in their left ears. Lynn Masey, 40, of Ardmore, Okla, surrendered to authorities July 20 at the Cook County Jail in Gainesville, Texas, after a felony warrant was issued for his arrest. Masey was suspected in the theft of 90 head of cattle over a 9-month period from two Oklahoma ranchers who had entrusted Masey with care of their livestock. Frankie Lane Hunt, 20, of Depew, Okla., surrendered to authorities on Wednesday and was booked into the Creek County Jail in Sapulpa, Okla., after he was accused of stealing 24 head of cattle from three different Oklahoma ranches. A second suspect, Charles Edward Roby III, 20, Bristow, Okla., has a warrant out for his arrest but has not been apprehended. Both suspects have been charged with four counts of larceny of domestic animals in the Creek County District Court. A Tahlequah, Okla., man was arrested Tuesday and charged with the embezzlement of 18 head of cattle that were placed in his care by a local rancher. TSCRA Special Ranger John Cummings led the investigation with assistance from Special Ranger Bart Perrier.
TSCRA Special Ranger Bart Perrier, Dist. 4 in central Oklahoma, reports 2 heifers missing from a pasture near Wanette in Pottawatomie County some time after July 10. The heifers are crossbred black, yellow or white, and branded with a 4S brand on the left hip. They also have white or yellow ear tags. Anyone with information regarding these animals are urged to call Special Ranger Perrier at 918-847-3231.
